the music man, work, fine arts,

Well it has been very busy this last few weeks. We tried out for the Music Man at the MLT and so now we are very busy with play practices. We were in such a rut and well now we are not in a rut! We are having a lot of fun with the songs and dances! And yes it is rather amusing as well since I do not have my daughters ability to be graceful in the dance! No my rendition of the dance is not what you would call, um well lets just say that this is a comedy! Good thing!!!

Charlies brother and fiance Kellie were here to visit last weekend, we had a blast! We went to the Pittsburg Aquatic park for the afternoon on Saturday. Stephanie came home too and spent several days with us, I have missed her so much and it was great, wonderful, awesome to have her home! God is working in her life, keep praying for her she is in need of that, but I was encouraged to see a light in her eyes, a longing for things she had left behind…God is working and I am continuing to lift her up in prayer everyday!

Michael and Kelly went to Nationals in Phoenix AZ for Fine Arts. They did well with their song writing entries. They both recieved an Excellent rating. We were hoping for Superiors but Excellent is still a great rating, especially at the National level. So proud of them for making it to that level! They got to visit the Grand Canyon while they were there, Katie sent me some pictures of them that made her heart stop as they were way to close to the edge!
I did get my hair cut this weekend, really like this new cut, Meekin my hair dresser) does a great job. I was going to get it cut short but decided to give it another shot long with my bangs cut shorter so they will stay out of my eyes.

Work is going great! I love working with the people, and I am getting to do new things, there seems to always be something to laugh about or at as the case may be!

David is doing very well with Michelle in the afternoons. He has brought a little bit of color to their lives, so sorry about the education your children and poor dog have had since he has been there Chelle! But that is for a whole other post, lets just say David dosn’t have inhibitions…at all!

Long time, no post!

I seem to be to busy to keep up with things!

Holly was home last weekend, got to spend a little bit of time with her, Charlie got to see Kevin the other night when he passed through Springfield. Michael and Kelly are working all.the.time! it seems like it is David, Charlie and I only now, most of the time. I did talk with Stephanie on the phone yesterday, she is rarely home now. I was looking at some old pictures and it made me miss the times when we were all home! There was a lot of laughter in those pictures, a lot of love.
On to the next subject…Our pastors resigned as head pastors this last weekend. Yea that was a tough pill to swallow, they are moving on with what God has for them to do, but we are a selfish people and we don’t like change, we don’t like it at all!
But change comes and we grow and we learn. They are such a great influence in all our lives, and they will continue to be one as the path God is taking them is not another pastorate, but rather another ministry that will allow them to remain a part of our lives.

Michaels saga is over now. He went to court and everything has been settled. He walks away with a misdemeanor rather than a felony. Praise God for His faithfulness. Michael could have faced hardship the rest of his life because of stupid choices, but God is merciful and moved on the court to be merciful as well. We will be pursuing the Army next, and he will be going yet another direction in this life, but we know that the hand of God is at work in his life and that we can trust God to bring him through!

David had another seizure this week. That was a scary time, he had it on the bus to CLASS. They called me while Michael and I were waiting to go before the judge for the plea bargain. We had to leave and go to the hospital. David was released about 2 hours later. Michaels lawyer took care of everything at the courthouse for us. Really hate that these seizures are coming so regular and are lasting long enough that an ambulance had to be called. His meds have been upped and we will go forward from here, just pray for him when you think of him.

Well I really don’t have much else to say right now so I am going to go watch a movie with my husband and son…as once again we are the only ones home!

fine arts results are in

The worship band got an Excellent, Michael and Kelly’s solos each got Excellent, Michael and Kelly’s songwriting each got Superior with Invitation to Nationals, Cabrina’s poem got Superior with Invitation to Nationals as well as being in the top 4!!!  Brittney got an Excellent on her First person Essay. So incredibly proud of these kids and all their hard work!

Kelly also took This picture for the two dimensional art entry. She got an Excellent. She is pretty bummed we all thought she would go to nationals with this one. We will see what the critique sheets say tomorrow. She did get a superior with invitation last year and it was taken away from her for a technicality. She dotted all I’s and crossed all her t’s to make sure she covered all the bases and again she dosn’t get to take her art to Nationals. Very frustrating. These lessons are hard to understand, not sure what she is supposed to be learning, but this has been quite a blow to her.

I got up early this morning and went to OKC to pick up Kelly so she could sing her songs for a school competition this afternoon, she did a very good job at that competition as well, glad to be home and out of the car! I HATE driving in OKC. I Always get lost! Even when I know where I am going, have driven there before, it is guarateed that I will take a wrong exit and end up somewhere, like the Stockyards instead of the church where the competion is! Charlie called to check on me when I was leaving OKC and I had to get off the phone so I wouldn’t miss my exit…again! I drive in KC, Dallas, Tulsa and do not have these problems but OKC is just the worst for me!!! I guess that is all I have to say about that! I am going to get off of here for now, I may come back later to rant some more though :-/

hair cuts, Easter Program, work, movies

these are a few of the things our day has consisted of! Charlie has been working on the Easter Program all day long. There is a lot of work to putting this together. It is going to be fun. We have the narration for 3 of the 8 characters we are going to hear from in this production. We should have the rest of the narrations done by tomorrow and then everyone can start memorizing their parts.

Kevin and Michael got haircuts this morning and they are both looking good! Katie did a great job, as usual, on their cuts. Michael has a court date this next week so we wanted him to have a fresh cut. Kevin was looking pretty rough, but he looks clean cut again now! He is going back to school tomorrow. I have really enjoyed having him home this week.

Michael and Kelly are both working today and have been busy working all week long. Kelly had a pretty rough time when found out this week she wasn’t going to be able to keep her horses in the pasture that is close to our home. The land owners decided they didn’t want the liability of having her horses on their land. I don’t know if there is significant liability there but that is their decision. So she is once again trying to find a place close to home for her horses. It would be ideal if we had land ourselves but at this time we don’t.

Things at work are going ok for now. Don’t know what next week holds but next week will have enough grace to get through it. God is always faithful. There are things going on there that I don’t want anything to do with. Our office has a terrible reputation for being a problem office. We were finally at a place where things were going great and then BOOM, someone gets their shorts in a wad and everything blows up! I am tired of drama and ready to leave this behind me.

So tonight I plan to watch a movie and we are going to have grilled steaks, potatoes and salad tonight for dinner, after that we are having cake and ice cream to celebrate Kevin’s birthday. He will be 20 on Tuesday! No longer a teenager. I  now only have two teenagers, all the rest of them are adults now. And they survived to tell about it! As did their dad and me!

busy but productive day

Charlie got Holly’s car parts painted today and now it is drying, hopefully he will have it put back together this week early on. Kelly found a place to keep her horses and has a couple of horses to train this summer as well! She is pretty excited about that. We went to Hobby Lobby and got her frame ordered for her pencil drawing for fine arts. It is going to look really nice, and the price is as expected…expensive! But hey it will be worth it. Hopefully things will go better for her this year. Last year she recieved a superior with invitation to Nationals and then had it pulled from her because there was information missing on the information sheet. Very disappointing, she could have won Nationals had she been able to take it. This year we are going to make sure that all the t’s are crossed and the i’s dotted!

Michael is doing fairly good right now, he is slacking off on school work again so we are lighting a fire under him, he is taking that pretty good and is buckling down and getting the work done. He isn’t the easiest to motivate when it comes to school work!

Stephanie is graduating this year too! With a masters in Architecture! So very proud of her! She is freaking out some with the economy the way it is. But I know that God is going to provide for her needs. I pray that she will turn to Him for direction and get her life back on track spiritually. Pray for her when you think of her. She is doing great in every area but her walk with the Almigty God and His precious Son, who gave His life so that she can have life and that more abundantly! I know the word that was sowed in her life and heart will sprout and grow again. I would prefer sooner rather than later.

Working on Easter, the ideas for the characters are different and fun! I am looking forward to seeing this unfold! I do love the non traditional things! I think this is going to be as much fun as the Christmas one we did a few years ago, our creative juices are flowing!

Now onto the next thing I want to talk about, auto insurance. You know we pay every year to have insurance to protect us if we are in an accident. But what I have found is that we are terribly under insured! Holly had a minor fender bender and they are telling us that the cost of the medical care for the driver, who by the way was fine at the scene, may run more than the $50,000 worth of coverage that we have! What if this had been a serious accident with real injuries? I’m not worried about this anymore, I was a few weeks ago, but there is peace and a knowledge that no matter what the enemy throws at us we will walk through it with God by our side. He is our provider and keeper, and He takes care of His kids. (not always in the way we want though) But I do have to question insurance coverage and if we have enough and if we can even afford to get enough. What is your coverage? Is it better than ours? We are covered by Progressive. It will be interesting to see how they “take care of us” like they say they will.  I just wonder is all. We think because we have insurance that we are covered but the truth is that we are only partially covered. We are still vulnerable, and we are still liable. Kinda scary considering how many accidents there are out there and how many of them are serious. Just something to think about.

Pastor Appreciation

was supposed to be last week but Pastor Trudy wasn’t going to be there so we put it off to this Sunday. We have some pretty amazing people on staff at Gateway! We have been here in Welch for almost 4 yrs now and we have come to love these people very deeply. The team that is put together here has been through some tough times and are still at this time going through some incredibly hard times. Pastor Lynda and Darrell’s son Garrett was dianosed with Leukemia this year, Charlie and I have walked a heartbreaking road with our son Michael, Pastor’s Mike and Katie have found themselves in a transition period with Mikes job just this last week. Pastor’s Pat and Trudy and us have sent kids off to college this year. Pastor John and Christina had their first baby, sweet little Kyndal Marie! This year has been a mixture of joy and sadness. May I just say that each of you are a blessing from God and I am  honored to have you in my life!

Our Pastors were ordained tonight at OK district council! We are so proud of them this is a great accomplishment! Bitter sweet for us, I know God has plans for them beyond their wildest imaginations! It will be fun to watch what God does in their lives and ministry! Congratulations Pastor Pat & Pastor Trudy!!!!

coming to grips with the fact that

our children do not always want to confide in us, their loving parents, can be such a hard thing to do! When they are hurting and having a hard time and turn to someone else, even when the someone else is their youth pastor, it leaves you feeling kinda funny, rejected, and well just irritated!  For myself and my husband that is. But the fact is that I didn’t confide in my parents everything that was going on with me as a teen and my husband definately didn’t confide in his so why are we suprised when our own children go to someone else? The enemy works overtime to bring wedges into families and into church families dosn’t he? I am so thankful that my kids feel that they can talk to their youth pastor and I am also thankful that when their youth pastors feel we need to know things they lead the kids to tell us, that is a blessing that not everyone has. We, as parents, can push our kids to hard and actually cause them to draw back from confiding in us even more. We have to be careful and respect their right to talk when they are ready. this balancing act dosn’t get any easier. I have been through this teenage thing with 4 kids and 2 still walking it out. These times are so emotional and traumatic for all of us! But by Gods grace we are going to make it through the last 2!

It is snowing and beautiful outside!

I love the snow as long as I am inside! It is beautiful outside and the fire is crackling in the fireplace. I have a wonderful book and a warm blanket, praises to our Lord Jesus playing in the background…what a wonderful life! I look back on everything that I have lived through and I see the hand of God guiding, protecting, caring, disciplining, and always loving me…hard times come and hard times go but He is always constant and true in our lives, even when we don’t see Him! I have seen some very hard things in my lifetime and witnessed great loss and great victory, there is more to come of both I have no doubt!  The one thing I know for certain is that God is going to always be there for me and my family, for all those who know Him as Lord, for His children. What defines His children? They are the ones who have accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior, who have chosen to walk with God and not with the world. A child of God is only born of the Spirit of God not into a family of believers. You can have been raised believing in God and not know Him or His Son, Jesus. He sent Jesus to die on a cross to save you from your sin, all you have to do is accept this sacrifice as your own and repent of your sin. He is waiting  and ready to forgive and save you today. It really is as simple as that. Then you need to get plugged in with other true christians and begin to learn of Him and His ways. He will change you in the most amazing ways! Will it be easy? NO, but nothing worthwhile is ever easy! Christianity is not for the faint of heart! It takes strong faith and determination to withstand the world! Praise the Lord that He gives us the ability through His spirit to do all that is needed and required of us!  There isn’t anything like the life of an overcoming Christian that is plugged into the power source of the Holy Spirit! Boring it is not!

Happy New Year

We are blessed as we go into this néw year! My brother and his family are all safe after a fire at their home this last week. I thank God for His hand of protection on them! The house is a mess for sure but they will be able to recover.

We are spending new years with my
mom and dad, playing games and just enjoying being together, nothing like being with family!

Haven’t heard anything about work or what is happening with our office manager. I am looking into another job just in case they keep her on staff, no sense waiting for more abuse 🙂 It is all in God’s hands and very capable hands they are. He directs my steps and He is my defence!

By the way the play went very well last week I was very pleased with my cast! They were AWSOME!
